Welcome to my blog, in fact this is my 1st blog! I am passionate about everything to do with creating the space of your dreams. Today I am going to share 4 tips on how to create a cohesive color scheme for your Airbnb, Bed & Breakfast and Vacation property.
So, why is picking a cohesive color palette so important? Well you need to grab the attention of potential guests but you don't want to overwhelm them either. It's a delicate balance!
Tip #1 Start with an inspiration piece. It could be a favorite piece of furniture, wall art, area rug, pillows etc. Identify the colors in the inspiration piece and use these colors as your guide as you make your color selection. This will help achieve cohesiveness. Another consideration when selecting your colors in your space is to consider your surroundings. If you are located near mountains, the beach, trees etc pull these colors into the home. These colors will not only enhance your listing but your guests experience!
Tip #2 Choose a neutral color as your base. Recommending the 60-30-10 rule. 60% of your space should be a neutral base, 30% should be a secondary color and 10% should be an accent color. The 60% neutral color can be any shade of cream, tan, white or grey. These colors are simply timeless. When choosing a neutral color, make sure you choose a color that will go with the pieces you already have. Use this color for the walls, large rugs or large furniture pieces. Adding a piece of artwork or a unique rug to a neutral-colored room can transform a space from dull and sterile to entertaining and gallery-like.
Tip #3 The Secondary colors are going to make up 30% of your color. You can introduce this color in your decor, vases, pots, frames, art pieces. Trickle this color throughout the entire house and watch it come to life!
Tip #4 Now for the fun part! Choosing the accent color and this represents only 10%! This is going to be a fun pop of color throughout your space. Remember to use variations of your accent color throughout. It will definitely bring some life to your space...use it in pillows, lamps, vases, books etc. These items can easily be changed out to give your space a new look. It's the finishing touch and it helps give that nice blended feel.
I hope these tips help with the overall beauty, flow and continuity of your space!!
